In honour of the end of Women’s month and to celebrate Muslim women worldwide Mona Haydar, a pregnant Syrian woman, broke the internet last week with her rap video. The video and song celebrates women across the globe, of all colours, particularly Muslim women who are often discriminated against. Haydar promotes intersectional feminism in her lyrics and is definitely worth the listen! With lyrics like “covered up or not, don’t ever take us for granted,” Haydar has released a feminist anthem worthy of Beyonce’s lemonade. So Don’t miss out and be sure to check out the video for yourselves.
In the words of Haydar herself, “keep swaggin my hijabis!”
